신은 없다. 무신론자인 테러리스트도 없다. 또한“테러와의 전쟁”도 없다.

<2004년 무신론의 해 > 캠페인(2003년 12월 13일부터 라엘 성하(His Holiness Rael)에 의해 시작)을 펼치고 있는 라엘리안 무브먼트(www.rael.org,www.thereisnogod.info)는 점점 더 많은 미국인들이 조지 부시의 주장에 반대하고 있다는 사실을 밝혀내고 있다. 조지 부시는 마치 신이 미국의 정책들을 허락한 것처럼 이야기하며 전쟁은 불행한 일지만 악의 세계를 제거하기 위해 필요다고 주장하고 있다. 그러나 미국의 정책들로 인해 수천 명의 이라크 아이들이 죽어 가고, 이라크인들이 미국과 영국의 군인들에게 고문당했으며, 수백 명의 미국인들이 죽어서 집으로 돌아갔다. 또한 다른 한편에서는 이슬람 국가 사람들이 복수를 위해 어린 아이들에게 이슬람교만이 유일하게 진실된 종교라고 가르치도록 만들고 있다.

현재 ‘무신론의 해’ 캠페인은 더욱 더 많은 사람들로 하여금 정치적인 순응자들이 무신론자들을“비애국자”라거나 다른 터무니없는 말로 부르는 정치적 순응자들에 대항하여 목소리를 높일 수 있도록 용기를 주고 있다.

신에 대한 믿음으로 인해 “신이 조정하는 게임” 안에서 녹초가 된 무기력한 인질처럼 되어버린 상황에서는 누구나 자신의 행위에 대한 책임감과 인간성의 지위 자체를 상실하게 된다는 사실을 이해하는 미국인들의 수가 늘어나고 있는 것이다. 라엘리안 무브먼트와 다른 무신론 단체들은 우리가 행동하든 행동하지 않던 모든 것은 우리 자신에게 책임이 있다고 가르친다. 인류의 미래는 신이 아니라 인류에게 달려 있다.

이제, 폭력은 단지 더 많은 폭력을 야기할 뿐이며, 오직 사랑만이 더 많은 사랑을 가져올 수 있다는 사실을 분명히 해야 한다. 낡은 종교 문헌 속에 있는 얼마나 많은 폭력들이 지금과 같은 세상을 만들어 냈는지 분명하게 인식해야 한다.

예수는 "눈에는 눈"이라는 구약성서의 구절을 바로 잡으며 “원수를 사랑하라”는 말로 바꾸었다. 매일 아침 성경을 읽는다고 떠들어 대는 조지 부시는 이러한 예수의 가장 유명한 메시지를 놓친 모양인데, 만일 그가 진정으로 예수를 따른다면 세계를 전쟁 대신 평화로 이끌었을 것이다.

라엘리안 무브먼트의 정신적 지도자인 라엘 성하는 이렇게 천명하였다:

“테러리즘과의 전쟁”이 있을 수 있다는 생각은 또 하나의 엄청난 거짓말이다. 그런 것은 없다. 전쟁이란 한편의 군대가 또 다른 군대에 맞서 싸우는 것이다. 테러리즘과 싸우는 것이 경찰의 임무일 수는 있다.

그러나 군대의 몫은 아니다. 올바른 가르침이 실패한 곳에서 테러가 발생한다. 따라서 테러리즘과 싸우는 진정한 무기는 교육인 것이다.

 

아이들에게 다른 모든 사란들을 존중하게 하는 무신론의 가치관을 올바로 가르친다면, 어느 누구도 상상으로 만들어 낸 “천국”에 들어가는 것을 꿈꾸며 알라나 어떤 초자연적인 존재의 이름으로 비행기를 타고 빌딩과 충돌하려 하지는 않을 것이다. 무신론적 교육을 받게 되면 아무도 사후에 있을 어떤 종류의 삶도 믿지 않게 되어 결국 우리가 확신할 수 있는 유일무이한 현재의 삶을 더 좋게 만들기 위해 노력하게 될 것이다.

 

물론 평화로운 시민들은 테러리스트들로부터 보호받아야 한다. 이러한 테러리스트들은 이미 잘못된 교육으로 자신들이 믿는 초자연적인 신들의 이름으로 인간폭탄이 되어 그들의 믿음을 위해 죽을 각오가 되어 있는 것이다. 그러나 시민들을 보호할 수 있는 것은 전쟁은 아니다. 그것은 경찰의 임무이다. 막대한 군사비, 최신 제트기, 장갑차, 미사일 그리고 인공위성 같은 것은 보잉 747기를 공중 납치하려고 결심한 소형 칼을 가진 3명의 남자들에 대해 아무것도 할 수가 없다. 테러리스트 캠프에서의 군사훈련을 보여주며 테러리즘에 맞서는 전쟁이 필요한 것처럼 말하는 언론 매체들을 보면 언제나 우습다. 소형 칼을 가지고 비행기를 공중납치하기 위해 낙하산 부대의 캠프에서 수개월씩이나 훈련받을 필요는 없다!

 

정신차려라! 그것은 칼이지 기관총이 아니다! 이것은 존재하지도 않는 “테러와의 전쟁”이라는 주장을 옹호하려는 순전히 거짓된 캠페인이다. 그리고 미국은 소위 “테러와의 전쟁”이라는 이름으로 다른 나라들을 침략하고, 수천 명의 무고한 시민들을 학살하고, 또 다른 수천 명을 감옥에 가두고 고문함으로써 자신들의 동료와 가족이 겪은 죽음과 고문에 복수하기 위해 죽을 각오가 되어있는 1000배 더 많은 테러리스트들을 만들어 내고 있을 뿐이다.

 

어떻게 “자유의 나라”라고 하는 세계에서 가장 진보한 미국의 시민들이 갑자기 전쟁을 일으키고, 고문과 강간을 일삼는 범죄자들이 될 수 있는가? 왜냐하면 그들은 모든 아랍인들이나 이슬람교도들을 9.11 공격에 대해 간접적으로 책임이 있는 응징이 필요한 잠재적인 테러리스트로 여기도록 만드는 “테러와의 전쟁”이라는 거짓에 세뇌 당했기 때문이다. 이것은 1938년 대다수의 독일인들이 아돌프 히들러가 유대인들을 집단수용소에 몰아넣고 말살하는것을 도울 준비가 되어 있을 정도로 유대인들을 증오하도록 세뇌 당했던 상황과 완전히 똑같다.

소위 "억류자"들이 전혀 권리를 행사할 수 없는 쿠바의 관타나모 기지는 더욱 더 아우슈비츠와 비슷하며 실제로 강제수용소이다.

상상이 만들어 낸 “테러와의 전쟁”이 더 많은 테러리스트들을 만들고 있으며 슬프게도 미래에는 그것이 증명될 것이다. 이 전쟁이 시작되기 전 자신들의 신의 이름으로 자살폭탄이 될 준비가된 종교적 광신자들은 몇 백 명이었다. 하지만 지금 그러한 자들은 이슬람 세계 전

역에 걸쳐 수십만 명에 이르고 있다.

그들은 과거에는 아니었지만 현재는 미국을 증오한다. 증오는 증오를 낳는다. 전쟁은 전쟁을 일으키고 폭력은 폭력을 부른다.

 

"칼로 일어선 자는 칼로 망하리라.”그렇기 때문에 예수가 이야기한 “원수를 사랑하라”는 말을 기억하는 것이 그 어느 때보다도 실로 중요해 지는 것이다. 자신을 기독교인이라고 속이고 있는 조지 부시가 예수로부터 나온 이러한 기독교인들의 지혜로운 말들을 실천했다면 9.11 이후에 미국 대통령으로서 전쟁을 시작하지 않았을 것이다. 오히려 그의 적들을 사랑함으로써 팔레스타인 사람들을 더 많이 지원하고, 더 많은 팔레스타인 난민들을 받아들이고, 사우디 아라비아에서 군대를 철수하고, 이라크에서 수많은 아이들을 죽게 만드는 경제제재를 해제하고, 이스라엘에 (실제로 존재하고 있는) 대량살상용 핵무기를 파기하도록 요구하고, 보다 균형 잡힌 관계를 위해 이스라엘에 제공했던 만큼의 돈을 아랍 국가들에게도 제공했을 것이다. 이것이 잠재적인 테러리스트들의 수를 급격히 감소시킬 수 있을 평화와 사랑을 가져 왔을 것이다. 그렇게 한다고 해서 공항의 보안이 허술해 지는 것은 아니다. 다시 한번 말하지만, 보안은 경찰의 임무이지 군대의 몫이 아니다.

무신론을 가르치는 것은 테러리즘에 맞설 수 있는 가장 중요한 무기이다. 무신론자인 테러리스트는 없다는 사실을 기억하라. 왜냐하면 신과 천국을 믿지 않는다면 무엇인가를 위해 죽을 필요가 없게 되며, 오로지 될 수 있는 한 오랫동안 행복하게 살면서 다른 이들의 삶도 보다 윤택해지기를 바라며 살게 되기 때문이다.

THERE IS NO GOD , THERE ARE NO ATHEIST TERRORISTS, AND THERE IS NO "WAR ON TERROR"

In its campaign “2004 ­ Year of Atheism”,

launched by His Holiness RAEL on December 13 th 2003, the Raelian Movement

(www.rael.org and www.thereisnogod.info) is discovering more and more that Americans do not agree with what George Bush tells us - that “war is unfortunate but necessary to rid the world of evil”, implying that God approves of America’s policies in which thousands of innocent children are killed in Iraq, US and British soldiers torturing Iraqis or the hundreds of US coffins coming home ­ all this while the populations of Muslim countries are indoctrinating little children that Islam is the only true religion in order to retaliate.

The current “Year of Atheism” campaign is giving more and more people the courage to speak up against the politically correct who immediately call atheists “unpatriotic” or other such nonsense. A growing number of Americans understand that belief in a god removes all responsibility for one ’s actions and humanity places itself in a position of being powerless pawns in some sort of “divine game” being played out. The Raelian Movement and other atheist organizations teach that we are responsible for our actions ­ or lack of actions. Humanity’s future is up to humanity, not a god.

It should be obvious by now that violence can only bring more violence and that love will bring only more love. We should be very aware of how much violence in old religious text has shaped the world in which we live. The Old Testament’s “eye for an eye” was taught to be wrong by Jesus and was replaced by “love your enemy”. George Bush, who claims to read from the Bible every morning, somehow missed this most famous message of Jesus and if he really followed Jesus, would lead the world to peace instead of war.

His Holiness RAEL declares: "Another big lie is the idea that there is a "war against terrorism". There is no such thing. A war is waged by an army fighting against another army. Fighting terrorism may be a police matter, but not a military one. And that is where education has failed. Because the real weapon against terrorism is education. When a proper education teach children atheist values of respect for every other human being nobody is willing to crash an airplane into a building in the name of Allah or any supernatural being hoping to access an imaginary "heaven". With an atheistic education nobody believe in any kind of life after death, and then everybody try to make this life, the only one we are sure to have, better for everybody. Peaceful citizens need of course to be protected against

terrorists , these people who were already badly educated and who are ready to die for their beliefs by becoming human bombs in the name of their supernatural gods. But this is not a war. It's a matter for police. The hugemilitary expenses, advanced jets and armored vehicles, missiles and satellites can do nothing against 3 men with a cutter who decide to hijack a boeing 747. It is always laughable to see the medias illustrating the idea of war against terrorism by showing military training in terrorist camps.

You do not need months of training in para military camps to hijack an airplane with a box cutter! Wake up it's a cutter not a machine gun ! This is a pure campaign of disinformation in order to support the alleged "war on terror" which doesn’t exist. And by invading other countries in the name of this so called "war on terror", killing thousands of innocent civilians, imprisoning and torturing thousands of others, America is only generating a thousand times more terrorists ready to die to avenge the death and tortures endured by their friends and families. How can citizens of the "country of freedom" and the most advanced country in the world, United States of America, suddenly become war criminals , torturers and abusers ? Only because they are indoctrinated by this big lie of a "war on terror" which make them see all Arabs or Muslims as potential terrorists potentially guilty of September 11 attacks, and needing punishment. It is exactly like the Germans in 1938 who were indoctrinated to hate the Jews so much that a majority of them were ready to help Adolph Hitler put them in concentration camps and exterminate them. Guantanamo looks more and more like Auschwitz and it is indeed a concentration camp where so called "detainees" have absolutely no rights. The imaginary " war on terror" is creating more terrorists and the future will sadly prove it. Before this war started there was a few hundred religious fanatics ready to blow themselves up in the name of their god, now they are hundred of thousands all around the Muslim world who hate America as never before. Hatred creates hatred. War brings war and violence brings violence. "Those who live by the sword will die by the sword "That's why it is more than ever of the utmost importance to remember what Jesus said : "Love your enemies". If these words of Christian wisdom from Jesus were applied by George Bush, who falsely claims to be a Christian, after September 11 the American President would not have started a war, but by loving his enemies, would have given more support to Palestinians, received more Palestinians refugees, with raw the military from Saudi Arabia, cancel the economic sanctions against Iraq killing so many children, ask Israel to destroy the nuclear weapons of mass destruction (and these nukes are really there), and give as much money as it gives to Israel to Arab countries in a more balanced way . This would have brought peace and love which would have dramatically brought down the number of potential terrorists. And it doesn’t mean that at the same time security in the airports couldn’t have been increased which is one more time a matter of

police and not militaries.

Education and atheism are the most important weapons to fight terrorism. Remember: there is no such thing as an atheist terrorist. Because when you don't belive in god and heaven, you have nothing to die for, and you are just willing to live happily as long as possible and make the life of other human beings better.
